Terms of sale
These terms cover buying pottery from me, Ivana Gogova (Ivana Gogova Ceramics). I've written them in plain language so they're easy to follow. They don't affect your legal rights as a consumer.
About my pieces
Every piece is made by hand, by me, so no two are the same. You can expect variation in symmetry, size, surface effects and glaze coverage (eg, a glaze that has pooled thicker on one side, or a slightly uneven rim). These are part of the character of handmade work and aren't faults.
Photos can't fully capture each piece, especially glaze colour and texture, which can look different depending on the light and your screen. If I think a piece looks noticeably different in person from its photos, I'll send you extra photos before you pay. You're also welcome to ask for more photos of anything you're interested in. Sizes and capacity provided on the website are approximate and small deviations may occur as I take measurements by hand.
A crack, chip, leak, or a piece that doesn't match how I've described it is different, and is covered under "If something is wrong with a piece" below.
Care and use
| Piece | Suitable for | Care |
|---|---|---|
| Vases and bottles | Decorative use, and holding water for flowers without leaking | Not for food or drink |
| Tumblers, mugs and bowls | Food and drink | Dishwasher safe, though they'll last better washed by hand |
I can't guarantee that any of my pieces are microwave safe, as some clay bodies can contain traces of iron, so please don't put them in the microwave.
Please avoid sudden changes in temperature (eg, pouring boiling water into a cold mug, or moving a bowl straight from the fridge into hot water), as this can cause ceramics to crack.
Enquiring and reserving
- An enquiry about a piece doesn't reserve it or guarantee that it's available.
- If more than one person enquires about the same piece, I'll offer it to whoever enquired first.
- When a piece is available, I'll email you to confirm the total (including delivery, if you're having it posted), with a payment link and my postal address.
- Payment is due within 3 days of my sending the link. After that, I may offer the piece to the next person who enquired.
- Your order is confirmed once I've received payment, and I'll email you to let you know.
Delivery and collection
- I'll arrange delivery or collection once payment has been received.
- UK delivery, to your address or an InPost locker, is £5 for the first piece and £1.50 for each extra piece in the same order.
- I'll ask for your delivery details and mobile number when you pay (couriers use your number to send delivery updates).
- Collection from Bishop's Stortford is free. I'll share the collection address and agree a time with you after payment.
- I'll post your order by tracked delivery within 5 business days of payment.
- I deliver within the UK only.
- Pieces I post are my responsibility until they reach you.
Changing your mind
If you've bought from me online or by email, you can cancel your order for any reason.
- You have 14 days to let me know, starting the day after you receive (or collect) your order. Just email me to say you'd like to cancel.
- Please then send the piece back within 14 days of telling me.
- You pay for the return postage. Please pack the piece well and use a tracked service (pottery is fragile, and you're responsible for it until it reaches me), and keep your proof of postage.
- I'll refund the price of the piece and the original delivery charge within 14 days of receiving it back, or of you sending me proof of postage, whichever is sooner. Refunds go back to the payment method you used.
- If a piece comes back damaged, or shows use beyond what you'd need to look it over (as you would in a shop), I may reduce the refund to reflect its loss in value. If I do, I'll explain the amount and send you photos.
If a piece arrives damaged
I pack every piece carefully, though breakages in the post can still happen.
- Please let me know as soon as you can, ideally within 48 hours of delivery, with photos of the piece, the packaging and the postage label.
- I'll give you a full refund, including the delivery charge. You won't need to send the piece back.
- If we both agree, I can offer an exchange for a different piece instead (as each piece is one of a kind, an exact replacement usually isn't possible).
If something is wrong with a piece
Your pieces should match how I've described them, be of satisfactory quality and be fit for the purpose I've described (eg, holding liquid if it's a mug). If something is wrong, please get in touch. You can reject a faulty piece for a full refund within 30 days of receiving it, and after that you still have rights to a repair, replacement or refund.
Your information
I'll use your name, email and address to handle your enquiry and your order. If you enquire about or buy a piece, I may also send you occasional emails about new work and events. You can opt out when you enquire, or at any time using the unsubscribe link in each email. My privacy notice explains in full how I use and look after your information.
